Why I am so passionate about treating acne!
I started breaking out in junior high school and that’s when I become a product junkie LOL. I believed every acne ad on TV and in magazines. Being raised by my grandma, makeup was NOT an option, so I would beg, and save for all new acne products. Seabreeze, Clearasil, Clean and Clear, Physoderm Ten-O-Six, Neutrogena, Oxy 10, and YES! the devils scrub St.Ives Apricot Scrub. I tried them all.
During my Junior & Senior years in high school, I started seeing a dermatologist and was prescribed antibiotics (that caused yeast infections) and Benzoyl-peroxide cream. My cousins went to the same dermatologist and I noticed they were being prescribed Retin-A and other stronger products that were getting them clear. Being the inquisitive person that I am, I inquired about the difference in our treatments and was told because I was on public assistance my insurance would not cover the products that my cousin was getting. I offered to pay the difference, but couldn’t afford it, I continued on the prescribed slow path. Lynette D Jones Esthetics with no clients and a thirst for knowledge. Over the past seven years, while still working construction, I built my acne studio into the thriving practice that it is today.
Fast forward to married with children and working construction (with great insurance), but still fighting acne. Lo and behold, I hear about a new dermatologist in our area that looks like me, so I make an appointment and become a regular client. She prescribed cleansers & topical creams that got me clear with occasional hormonal breakouts. YEAH!!! Then the bomb drops and my “Great Insurance” turns on me. They changed RX carriers to cut costs and this new carrier will only cover acne prescriptions for 14 years and under. Mind you, by this time I am in my mid-forties. This is where my life changed! I set out on a journey to clear up my acne without prescription medication and discovered the world of esthetics. Imagine the look on my husband’s face when I tell him that at the age of forty-six I’m going to esthetics school to become an Esthetician and specialize in treating acne and the effects it leaves on the skin. While working 40- 50 hours a week doing construction (and being the oldest in my class), I was determined & completed my Esthetics training at the top of my class. After graduation, I opened my skincare studio
